theBalm 'Hot Mama' Blush: Swatch and Review

I've been on the hunt for a good blush for what seems an eternity, without burning a huge MAC shaped hole in my pocket in the process. Being the peachy blush enthusiast that I am, I was particularly drawn to Nars 'Orgasm' and MAC 'Peachykeen', and after endlessly strolling through blog reviews I found that theBalm 'Hot Mama' blush/eyeshadow was considered a close dupe, with quite a few people stating they prefer it quite considerably. At £12.50, this product was already less guilt inducing to treat myself to in comparison to Nars and MAC's hefty price tags, so I couldn't help but try it out. There's only so many times you can read the words 'holy grail' and not find yourself hitting the 'add to basket' button...

For a start, I really love the packaging for this product. The vintage pin-up girl is adorable and the flip-open style with the mirror makes this really easy to just throw into your bag to carry around all day. In the pan, it appears really quite earthy and with a quick sweep can be kept very understated (2) however, you can definitely build up the colour for it to blend out a bit pinkier (1). You really can wear it either way and it still makes you look like you were born with naturally pinchable cheeks!
There are a lot of glittery specks throughout the blush, and this adds a subtle highlight. Two birds, one stone! It's also very long lasting, it stays on my cheeks for at least seven hours which makes it perfect for day wear.
So far, I don't have anything negative to say about this. It is reasonably priced, a lovely, long-lasting shade and is a great alternative if you find Nars a little on the pricey side! I have heard that it lasts for years so I'll be holding onto the hope!

Have you tried anything from theBalm? What do you think of Hot Mama?
Hope you've enjoyed your Halloweens and half terms!
Storm x
